EDUCATION FOR DOCTORS & NURSES
Our skin cancer education centre is in Docklands, Melbourne. All workshops except the face and ear workshop are held at our Docklands centre in the heart of Melbourne. ESSENTIALS: In 2012 we will be holding one further essentials of skin cancer medicine weekend workshops at our Docklands centre. - June 16 / 17 2012. This workshop is a thorough exploration of the diagnosis and management of skin cancer in general practice. Surgical techniques explained in this workshop including punch biopsies, shave biopsies, elliptical excision of lesions, curettage, cautery and cryotherapy. FLAPS & GRAFTS: The 2012 5 day skin cancer flap / graft surgery workshop will be held in Docklands Melbourne September 14 to 18, 2012. Register here or Workshop details here. This workshop focuses on learning flap and graft procedures. The program is expanded for 2012 with a further half day of education and further flap and graft techniques to learn and practice. Knowledge of essentials curriculum assumed. Cost: $3,250.00
DERMOSCOPY: In 2012 we are holding one further intensive weekend dermoscopy workshops at our Docklands centre. This workshop involves an 9 hour education program of in depth dermoscopy diagnostics. Register here. Dates: July 28 / 29 2012. Cost: $990.00
FACE & EAR: Face and ear reconstruction workshop in 2012 will be held in Geelong on November 16, 17 & 18. This workshop is designed for those planning to move beyond procedures learnt in the 5 day event. Register here. Workshop program here. Cost: $2,250.00
NURSE: The 2012 education program in skin cancer for nurses will be held at our Docklands centre. 8 hour program of education in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer for practice nurses. We cover clinical diagnosis, dermoscopy, biopsy techniques, procedure room management, dressings & the role of topical therapies among topics key to nurses involved in a skin cancer team.
CERTIFICATION: One month following each workshop, attendees will have the option of sitting the Australasian College of Cutaneous Oncology (ACCO) on-line exam to certify their acquired and retained knowledge in skin cancer management. Practical skills will be assessed during the workshops.

OUR MEDICAL PRACTICE
We are dedicated to the surgical management of head and neck skin cancers & melanoma. A referral is required.
This is NOT a skin check clinic or "skin cancer clinic".
Doctor Anthony Dixon manages melanoma and complex skin cancer either in the Skincanceronly dedicated surgical facility or at Geelong Private Hospital.
Dr. Dixon completed his PhD in 2008. His thesis pertained to complications and outcomes of skin cancer surgery. "No other practitioner in Australia has focussed in such a scientific manner on the relevant issues of skin cancer treatment than the candidate" Such is an independent review of Dr. Dixon's research leading to PhD.
RECENT AWARDS:
1) In August 2009 Dr. Dixon was honoured by the Australasian College of Skin Cancer Medicineby being awarded the inaugural College life membership. This award was presented to Anthony in recognition of his contributions to skin cancer research & management in Australia and overseas as well as his contributions to College.
2) In October 2010 Dr. Dixon received a presidential citation at the annual conference of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology in San Francisco. The honour was "In Grateful Appreciation For Your Outstanding Support And Dedicated Commitment To The American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, - Marc Epstein, President".
3) In November 2010 Dr. Dixon was awarded a life time honorary membership of the Florida Society for Dermatologic Surgery in Orlando, USA. EDUCATION & RESEARCH:
Apart from his surgical practice, Dr. Dixon is involved in education and research throughout Australia and overseas. He has published original research in leading international journals such as British Journal of Surgery (2 studies), Dermatologic Surgery (5 studies), Journal American Academy of Dermatology, British Journal of Dermatology, British Medical Journal, Journal of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and Medical Journal of Australia.
Dr. Dixon and Skincanceronly adhere to the "without fear or favour" principle regarding education content in skin cancer management.
